Elixirbridge: Lessons Learned from Building Community

Several years ago, we started ElixirBridge with the hope of helping bring more folks that are underrepresented into the elixir community. The goal was to help build a more diverse and inclusive community.

Now we want to share lessons learned, both positive and negative, that we believe are crucial to keeping in mind to successfully build community.

The hope is that folks walk away from this talk with knowledge of what has worked, what has not, and some useful tools to bring back to their communities.

Bio

Anna Neyzberg is a San Francisco native who has done a lot of work in the ruby community in SF and currently sits on the board of RailsBridge. She has taken this community organizing experience and last year co-founded ElixirBridge in SF- an organization that offers free weekend-long workshops, with the goal of creating an inclusive, welcoming space for underrepresented populations in tech to learn elixir. By day she works as a Developer at Carbon Five. When not in front of a keyboard, she is trying to get better at climbing rocks.
